At one time there were
TWO
inclines up Lookout Mountain. The popular tourist attraction operating today was once known as Incline no. 2. Incline no. 1 took a less steep grade up the mountain to the Point Hotel. It was completed
in 1887, but dismantled by 1900 after viable business plans for its use failed to materialize.
